Dinacharya

Aligning with nature - 6 week course

Join co-founder of Shava Yoga, Jesse Alexander and Philli Bartik in an exploration of the ancient ayurvedic science of dInacharya – translated as ‘daily routine’ – a knowledge based on the observation of how Earth’s day and night cycle governs human circadian rhythms and therefore health.

Living a daily routine that supports these rhythms is an essential pillar for cultivating and maintaining a healthy body-mind complex, the bedrock of a fully-fledged life of embodied vitality and contentment. The natural world at large is deeply influenced by the rhythms of nature—the rising and setting of the sun, the cycles of the seasons, and the underlying impulses directing the broader community of life. Having a daily routine offers the grounding, stability, and predictability that are largely absent from our hectic modern lives. The routine itself creates a number of familiar and comforting reference points throughout each day that send a resounding affirmation to the deep tissues of the body that all is well, that we can be at ease. And so, when the body becomes accustomed to—and learns to count on—a daily routine that includes things like adequate rest, appropriate exercise, and a nourishing spiritual practice, the nervous system can finally begin to relax.

This course will unfold Ayurveda’s understanding of nature’s 24hr day and night cycle, how it is expressed in the cycles of our human organism, and how we can begin to practically apply this knowledge in our daily way of living to support our own individual healing, health and evolution.
